Ribbon Cutting Ceremony - Leadership Westmoreland Project
Tuesday, May 19, 2026 (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (EDT)
Description
Leadership Westmoreland, a program of the Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce, is bringing a new community project to Jeannette aimed at promoting early childhood learning and outdoor activity. The initiative will install 10 interactive “Born Learning” signs throughout local parks and community spaces. Each sign features activities designed to encourage children and caregivers to explore nature, use their imagination, and stay active together.
The project was presented to Jeannette City Council by Leadership Westmoreland class members Kelli Gardner of Westmoreland County Community College and Derrick Accipiter of Ebara Elliott Energy. Their goal was to create a meaningful impact on early childhood education and family engagement within the community.
Potential locations for the signs include parks and recreation areas in West Jeannette, Agnew Road, Altman Park, and the Mosaic Community Development Center garden. Ebara Elliott Energy is funding the project, and city officials are partnering with Leadership Westmoreland to finalize installation sites.
The ribbon cutting for the project will take place on Monday, May 19 at 11 a.m. celebrating the collaborative effort to create more engaging, educational outdoor spaces for Jeannette families.
